However, even with all this glory.. Microsoft behind the scenes are working on the Xbox 360's successor. The new console is on desks at an unnamed Electronic Arts (EA Games) studio. The new hardware was sent to EA last month and is a very early build. It features no final casing and is just the hardware being stored inside of a PC case. Developers at EA are getting to grips with the new system so that they can create games in time for it's release.
It is common for a new console to arrive to developers inside of a PC case. This will also help hold off any leaks before E3 this June. Nintendo are slated to announce their new flagship console at E3 but will Microsoft top that with the new Xbox?

This has been only speculated at and is looking more like a "Rumor" than truth, EA also has said it is 100% Not True.
ReplyDeleteWith the current shape of the 360, I still expect it to go till 2014 till the new one is out. The slim has been out for less than a year, they are still expanding the Kinect, they have a Beta still going on exploring the new disc type which will furthermore extend the 360's life.
I don't know, just seems like they will stick with what they have said in the past and will be going till 2013-2014.
Take a look at the PS2.. it lived long after the release of the PS3. A 720 release could mean a price drop for the 360 and then make the 360 more of a family/young gamer console. It would shift the hardcore audience to the new console.
ReplyDeleteoh come on!!!i got my very first xbox 360!!i had a ps3 slim but after wat happened to PSN i thought to an xbox 360 slim!!n now they r goin to release a new one!dude i'm seriously out of my allowance after i bought the 360!!
ReplyDeleteYeah Alen, I agree with that. (Same Anon as above) I have never doubted that they will keep the 360 Alive for a full ten year run. But if you look at MS & Sony, they both have very set timely pasts of when they release things, and how far they spread it.
ReplyDeleteI just think that with the expansions they are doing to the 360, it will remain a main console until E3 2012/2013 when we here something on the new ones.
I hope it doesn't come out for a few years - 2014 as I am just getting a new xbox atm from microsoft as mine doesn't work because of the past 2 updates. To get a new console and then for the successor to come out is a joke. Just give us a new blu-ray hardware and I don't give a flap what happens tbh
